Meet Tauran, King of Lyke

👑 MEET KING TAURAN 👑

Every court has a king. This one has a legend.

Tauran is the King of Lyke, father of Erebos and grandfather of Theeson. He has held the throne longer than anyone remembers, and he is not finished.

What makes Tauran who he is:

He is terrifyingly beautiful. Young and ancient all at once, with a crown like black oil on water. Look at him too long and you will forget to be afraid. That would be a mistake.

He is kept alive by magic. The blue sphere atop his staff holds a legendary jewel that cannot be broken. Its magic keeps him breathing, and no one remembers a Lyke without him on the throne.

Everyone kneels. He does not ask for loyalty. He simply expects it, and he has never been disappointed.

King, tyrant, or something in between? Read and decide.

The Importance of Reading Comprehension

Suppose your child is brilliant at crunching numbers and can memorize facts like nobody’s business, but they aren’t making much headway on their reading comprehension scores. And maybe you’ve been thinking, “What’s the big deal?”    And I am here to tell you that reading comprehension may not seem very important now, but will make learning increasingly difficult as the child gets older if they show little to no improvement.    All information is passed on from teacher (or parent) to the child through language. If the child does not fully comprehend what they are hearing, then they do not obtain the knowledge that a teacher is attempting to pass on to them. There are also numerous studies that link poor language development to behavior issues. Here is one such study: http://www.child-encyclopedia.com/language-development-and-literacy/according-experts/literacy-outcome-language-development-and-its As you can read from this study, there is a...

Did you visit the beach or play in a sand box this summer? Recall those sweet memories as you enjoy this poem together. (text)   How to Build a Sandcastle By Brandi Peterson A sandy beach is a perfect spot, for building up your castle plot. Get a bucket and a shovel. Fill it up and pack it level. Now, turn it over really fast. Lift it gently to make a cast. Repeat the process one by one, until the sandy work is done. Decorate it with twigs and shells. Populate it with crabs and snails. Stand beside it and say “Cheese!” Mommy wants a picture, please! If you enjoy my poems, you'll LOVE my book!
