Meet Ariadne Sterling, Princess of Sylphar

👑 MEET ARIADNE 👑

Say hello to Princess Ariadne.

Ariadne Sterling is the young ruler of the peaceful planet Sylphar, elegant, sharp, and born different from the other Sylphs. Her jet black hair and bright blue eyes mark her as unusual among her people, and she is about to learn the secret her grandfather hid from her all her life.

What makes Ariadne who she is:

She was raised humble. Ariadne does not expect to be waited on, and she does not carry herself like someone who thinks the world owes her anything. She notices people, the ones others walk past, and she remembers them.

She does not break. Ripped from her throne and thrown into a conspiracy bigger than her world, Ariadne adapts. She keeps her composure, looks for the angle nobody else sees, and finds a way through. Trouble has a habit of finding her, and she has a habit of outlasting it.

She was born with a gift. Unlike others of her race, Ariadne can sense the emotions of other Sylphs. She feels what they feel. It is a secret she has kept to herself, afraid of what it might mean, unaware that her gift is the fruit of a dark conspiracy. She has carried it alone since she was a little girl, not even telling her closest friends, sensing something was up without knowing why. She can also detect silver that came from her home planet.

Her name is a nod to the Ariadne of Greek myth, but in this story the roles flip. You will see.

The Importance of Reading Comprehension

  Suppose your child is brilliant at crunching numbers and can memorize facts like nobody’s business, but they aren’t making much headway on their reading comprehension scores. And maybe you’ve been thinking, “What’s the big deal?”    And I am here to tell you that reading comprehension may not seem very important now, but will make learning increasingly difficult as the child gets older if they show little to no improvement.    All information is passed on from teacher (or parent) to the child through language. How to Build a Sandcastle (Poem)

Did you visit the beach or play in a sand box this summer? Recall those sweet memories as you enjoy this poem together. (text)   How to Build a Sandcastle By Brandi Peterson A sandy beach is a perfect spot, for building up your castle plot. Get a bucket and a shovel. Fill it up and pack it level. Now, turn it over really fast. Lift it gently to make a cast. Repeat the process one by one, until the sandy work is done. Decorate it with twigs and shells. Populate it with crabs and snails.
