Legend of Sylphar: The Silver Queen by Brandi Peterson

-

Updated 10/12/2026- The following post was for the initial launch of my book. The cover has had some sprucing since then! I hope you all are enjoying it either way.

-----------

Guys!! I have an announcement to make. I published my first novel!

I mean, just look at how beautiful that cover turned out. I am really happy with it. I love the colors, especially the little bit of purple around the edge of the planet. It really catches the eye.

Here's the description on the back:
The peaceful planet of Sylphar has a few political challenges to overcome, but nothing that its new young ruler, Ariadne Sterling, can't handle. But then one day a strange distant world called Lyke sends a message to the Sylphs offering to open up trade between them. But the Lykens are not interested in trade, they want to capture Ariadne to learn a secret her grandfather has hidden from her all her life. She knows she was born different than all her people with special mental abilities no other Sylph has. What she doesn't know is that she was genetically engineered. There's been a conspiracy going on all along, and she has become a pawn in everyone's game.

The Silver Queen is an action-packed odyssey, full of thrilling adventure and a touch of romance.

The Importance of Reading Comprehension

Suppose your child is brilliant at crunching numbers and can memorize facts like nobody’s business, but they aren’t making much headway on their reading comprehension scores. And maybe you’ve been thinking, “What’s the big deal?”    And I am here to tell you that reading comprehension may not seem very important now, but will make learning increasingly difficult as the child gets older if they show little to no improvement.    All information is passed on from teacher (or parent) to the child through language. If the child does not fully comprehend what they are hearing, then they do not obtain the knowledge that a teacher is attempting to pass on to them. There are also numerous studies that link poor language development to behavior issues. Here is one such study: http://www.child-encyclopedia.com/language-development-and-literacy/according-experts/literacy-outcome-language-development-and-its As you can read from this study, there is a...

Did you visit the beach or play in a sand box this summer? Recall those sweet memories as you enjoy this poem together. (text)   How to Build a Sandcastle By Brandi Peterson A sandy beach is a perfect spot, for building up your castle plot. Get a bucket and a shovel. Fill it up and pack it level. Now, turn it over really fast. Lift it gently to make a cast. Repeat the process one by one, until the sandy work is done. Decorate it with twigs and shells. Populate it with crabs and snails. Stand beside it and say “Cheese!” Mommy wants a picture, please! If you enjoy my poems, you'll LOVE my book!
